Biography

Phillip James Pettus is a Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 1 since his first election in 2014. He resides in Killen, Alabama, is married to Mary with three children and five grandchildren, and is a member of the Church of Christ.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Attended Shelby State Community College and the University of North Alabama.
  • Political Experience: Elected to the Alabama House of Representatives for District 1 in 2014 and re-elected, including in 2022 with 62.6% of the vote in the general election. Currently serves as Chair of the Fiscal Responsibility Committee and member of the Judiciary Committee and Military and Veterans Affairs Committee. Previously served on the Joint Oversight Committee on Nuclear Energy Activities and Hazardous Chemical Toxic Waste, and the Transportation, Utilities and Infrastructure Committee.
