Biography
Phil King is a Republican state senator representing District 10 in the Texas Senate, which spans eight counties including Brown, Callahan, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Shackelford, Stephens, and portions of Parker and Tarrant Counties. Born February 29, 1956, in Weatherford, Texas, he is a lifelong conservative leader, attorney, small business owner, former police officer for 15 years, and current member of the Texas State Guard. He and his wife Terry have six children, ten granddaughters, and seven grandsons, and have been active members of Trinity Bible Church since 1984. Notable achievements include authoring key 2003 congressional redistricting legislation that shifted Texas's U.S. House delegation to a Republican majority, serving as 2015 National Chair of the American Legislative Exchange Council , and chairing the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute. He currently chairs the Senate Economic Development Committee and Senate Select Committees on Religious Liberty and Homeland and Border Security, and serves as vice chair of Business & Commerce.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.A. and M.B.A. from Dallas Baptist University; J.D. from Texas A&M University School of Law.
- Political Experience: Parker County Justice of the Peace ; Texas House of Representatives, District 61 ; elected to Texas Senate District 10 in 2022 . Appointed in 2025 to chair the Senate Special Committee on Congressional Redistricting and serves on the Texas Judicial Council and Texas Indigent Defense Commission.
