Phil Jensen
Phil Jensen is a Republican politician from Rapid City, South Dakota, born July 24, 1952. He is a resident of Pennington County and a small business owner who works as a cookware dealer. Jensen is married to Janet and has three children. He identifies as Christian.
Political Experience
Jensen has had an extensive career in the South Dakota Legislature spanning nearly two decades. He first served in the South Dakota House of Representatives representing District 33 from 2009 to 2013. He then transitioned to the South Dakota Senate, serving in District 33 from 2013 to 2021, where he held the position of chair of the Commerce and Energy Committee and was a former member of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee.
Since January 2021, Jensen has returned to the South Dakota House of Representatives representing District 33, serving as an incumbent member. His district encompasses Meade and Pennington counties.
Jensen currently serves as Chairman of the South Dakota Freedom Caucus, a position reflecting his prominent role among conservative legislators.
