Biography

Peter J. Durant, born in 1964 or 1965, is a Republican member of the Massachusetts State Senate representing the Worcester and Hampshire District, which includes the city of Gardner, parts of Worcester, and surrounding towns. A lifelong resident of Spencer, Massachusetts, he was elected to the Senate on November 7, 2023, following a vacancy. He previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 6th Worcester District from 2011 to 2023, on the Spencer Board of Selectmen starting in 2006, and on the Spencer Finance Committee. Durant is recognized as a defender of taxpayers, advocate for small businesses, and focuses on lowering taxes, public safety, local economies, state aid, and government transparency.
