Biography
Peggy Gossett-Seidman is a Republican representing District 91 in the Florida House of Representatives. Born on April 7 in Topeka, Kansas, she moved to Florida in 1976 and has resided in Highland Beach for over 30 years with her husband, Dr. Barry Seidman, and their three children: Tyler, Dallas, and Austin. A former journalist, sportswriter, and media director, she worked for events like Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Women’s Pro Tennis Tour, publishing over 3,000 articles and earning 22 national and state awards. She previously served five years on the Highland Beach Town Commission, making it the safest municipality in Florida based on state crime data.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a BA with honors in English, Journalism, and History from Michigan State University .
- Political Experience: Elected to the Florida House in 2022 and reelected subsequently, with terms through 2030. Serves as Vice Chair of the PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee and on committees including Water Quality, Supply, and Treatment. Brought over $10.3 million to District 91 and passed eight bills in her first term, including the Jeffrey Epstein Grand Jury Case Files Release, Motor Voter Integrity Bill, and Safe Waterways/Public Bathing Places bill.
Notable achievements include sponsoring HB 523 for the Florida Seal of Fine Arts Program, co-sponsoring the State Park Preservation Act , introducing the Motor Vehicle Operator Privacy Act , and supporting House Resolution 9-C for Israel. Her legislative focus covers public safety, environmental protection, election law, consumer privacy, and water quality.
