Biography
Paula Davis
Paula Davis is a Republican State Representative for Louisiana House District 69, representing the Baton Rouge area. Born and raised in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, she has been a resident of Baton Rouge for over 30 years.
Davis was first elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2015 and was re-elected in 2019 to serve a four-year term. She currently serves as the first Chairwoman of the House Commerce Committee and as Chair of the Capital Region Legislative Delegation. Additionally, she holds membership in the House Executive Committee, House Select Leadership Committee, Joint Select Committee on Louisiana Economic Recovery, Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus, and the Louisiana Republican Legislative Delegation. She also serves on the Governor's Resilient Louisiana Commission.
Education
Davis holds a *Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University *.
Political Experience
Davis has been involved in Louisiana politics for over 20 years prior to her legislative service. She previously served as the Louisiana Deputy Commissioner of Insurance, where she oversaw the Property and Casualty Insurance Division and served as the Legislative Affairs Coordinator for the Department of Insurance. During this role, she assisted policyholders and insurance companies in recovering from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, oversaw the regulation of commercial and personal lines of property and casualty insurance, and managed all legislative efforts including revisions to the Louisiana Insurance Code.
She also has experience in Association Management, Governmental and Public Relations. As a legislator, Davis has received recognition including the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report's 2021 Influential Women in Business Award and the Chamber Southwest Louisiana "LegisGator of the Year" Award.
