Biography
Paul McMurtry is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 11th Norfolk District, which includes Dedham , Westwood, and the Eighth Precinct of Walpole in Norfolk County. Born on October 28, 1965, in Boston, Massachusetts, he has served as a legislator since May 30, 2007, succeeding Robert Coughlin. He resides in Dedham and owns a movie theater alongside his legislative duties. Notable achievements include sponsoring Bill H.4479 in 2018, which restricted e-cigarettes and raised the tobacco purchase age to 21 to combat youth vaping; the bill was signed into law by Governor Charlie Baker. He currently chairs the Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Businesses and has previously chaired committees on Veterans and Federal Affairs and Tourism, Arts, and Cultural Development.
