Biography
Paul Eugene Krizek is a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing District 16 in Fairfax County, including the Mount Vernon area. A native of Mount Vernon, he has served as Delegate since 2016, focusing on progressive values, community service, and effective legislation as a "work horse" legislator. Notable achievements include serving as the lone Democratic House conferee on the Constitutional Amendment establishing the Virginia Redistricting Commission for transparent redistricting, chairing key subcommittees , and publishing weekly articles in the Mount Vernon Gazette. He previously worked as Congressman Jim Moran's first immigration constituent service staffer and legislative aide for eight years, including international delegations to NATO, Korea, Algeria, Western Sahara, the UN, and El Salvador elections. Krizek also led Running Strong for American Indian Youth as its first Executive Director and has been Chief Counsel and Vice President for Christian Relief Services Charities, Inc. since 1999, managing a $50 million humanitarian organization aiding abused women, children, the handicapped, and homeless locally in Mount Vernon.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Burgundy Farm Country Day School, Stephen Foster Jr. High School , Groveton High School , with a BA from the University of Virginia, and a JD from the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
Political Experience: Serves on House committees including Privileges and Elections, General Laws, Appropriations, and Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources; appointed to Northern Virginia Transportation Commission . Extensive Democratic involvement: over a decade on Democratic Party of Virginia State Central Committee and 8th Congressional District Democratic Committee; former Chair of Mount Vernon Democratic Committee and Fairfax County Democratic Committee ; Clinton/Gore Delegate to 1996 Democratic National Convention; active volunteer in Democratic campaigns since 1988. Elected in 2015 after winning Democratic primary.
