Biography
Paul Childress is a Republican representing District 83 in the Arkansas House of Representatives, which covers part of Saline County. He was elected in 2024 and is serving his first term in the 95th General Assembly , currently holding the position of Senior VP of Sales at NFP Insurance in Benton. A Baptist and resident of Benton with his wife and three children, Childress has a strong background in public service, including a decade in Saline County law enforcement where he was named Police Officer of the Year. Notable achievements include serving as president of the Benton School Board, chairman of Saline County CASA , chairman of the Saline County Planning Commission, and president of Saline County Kiwanis . He serves on the House Public Transportation Committee and the House Aging, Children and Youth, Legislative and Military Affairs Committee.
Education and Political Experience
Childress attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. His political experience began with local leadership roles, leading to his 2024 election to the Arkansas House for District 83 as a first-term Republican representative. In the legislature, he has sponsored bills on topics such as wood energy tax credits, capital rape offenses, and protections for agricultural producers against financial discrimination. Outside politics, he enjoys DJing for the Benton High School basketball program.
