Representative Patty Mueller

Patty Mueller is a Republican member of the Minnesota House of Representatives representing District 23B in southwestern Minnesota, including Austin and parts of Freeborn, Mower, and Steele Counties. Elected in 2020, she defeated long-term incumbent Jeanne Poppe and was reelected in 2022 against Tom Stiehm; notable positions include Co-Vice Chair of the Education Policy Committee, with service on Workforce, Labor, and Economic Development Finance and Policy, and Education Finance committees.

Patricia Mueller was born on March 28, 1981, in Oakdale, Minnesota, and grew up in the Twin Cities suburbs. She graduated from Tartan High School in 1999 and married her husband, Dan, in 2004; they have taught in locations including the Twin Cities, Blooming Prairie , Indianapolis , Austin , and China. Currently residing in Austin, her husband is pursuing ordination as a pastor in the Free Methodist Church. A constitutional conservative with libertarian leanings, Mueller advocates for small government, individual rights, and support for District 23B's farmers, factory workers, and diverse immigrant communities. Notable achievements include introducing 2022 legislation to expedite substitute teacher licensing amid COVID-19 shortages, opposing red flag gun laws, and supporting Afghan refugee resettlement in Minnesota in 2021.
