Biography
Patty Kim is a Democratic Pennsylvania State Senator representing the 15th District, which encompasses lower Dauphin County. Elected to the State Senate in 2024 and sworn in on January 7, 2025, she previously served a decade in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives . She is the first Asian American woman to hold office in the Pennsylvania state legislature and the first Asian American to chair a PA House committee.
Education and Political Experience
- Early Political Career: Began in local government as a Harrisburg City Council member, serving two terms and elected Vice President during her second term.
- *House of Representatives *: Chaired the House Insurance Committee and Aging and Older Adult Services Committee; created and chaired the PA Legislative Asian Pacific American Caucus; served on Appropriations, Education, Insurance, and Local Government committees; co-chaired the House Democratic Campaign Caucus.
