Biography

Patrick James Morrisey, a Republican, is the 37th Governor of West Virginia, serving statewide since January 13, 2025. Previously, he was the state's 34th Attorney General from 2013 to 2025, the first Republican in that role since 1933 after defeating five-term incumbent Darrell McGraw. Notable achievements include leading West Virginia v. EPA, a landmark U.S. Supreme Court victory limiting federal regulatory power; championing constitutional carry, school choice, and pro-life laws; and establishing the state's first Disability Fraud Unit. He ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate in 2018 against Joe Manchin and won the 2024 gubernatorial election over Democrat Steve Williams.

Education and Political Experience
