Biography

Patrick McHenry is a Republican who represented North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2005 to 2025. A native of Gastonia, North Carolina, born on October 22, 1975, he resides in Cherryville, North Carolina, with his wife and three children. Notable achievements include serving as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee , Chief Deputy Republican Whip , and the first Speaker Pro Tempore in October 2023 following the ouster of Speaker Kevin McCarthy. He played key roles in passing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and the Fiscal Responsibility Act, and focused on issues like cryptocurrency, fintech, and financial oversight.

Education

McHenry graduated from Ashbrook High School in Gastonia, North Carolina, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Belmont Abbey College.

Political Experience
