Biography
Patrick Hope
Patrick Alan Hope was born on March 6, 1972, in San Antonio, Texas. He is a member of the Democratic Party and has represented the 1st District of Arlington County in the Virginia House of Delegates since 2010. He was re-elected to his eighth term in 2023.
Hope is a health care attorney with over 20 years of experience working for Virginia. He lives in Arlington with his wife, Kristen Anne Satariano, and their three children: Matteo, Patricia, and Lillian.
Education
Hope earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from St. Mary's University in San Antonio in 1993. He then obtained his Master of Arts degree in Congressional Studies from The Catholic University in Washington, DC in 1996, followed by a Juris Doctorate degree from The Catholic University Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC in 2001.
Political Experience
Hope won a five-way Democratic primary in June 2009 and was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in the general election with nearly 64% of the vote.

- Serves on multiple Virginia commissions including the Joint Commission on Health Care, Behavioral Health Commission, Virginia Disability Commission, Virginia Crime Commission, and Commonwealth Council on Aging
Community Leadership:
Hope founded and served as first president of the Buckingham Community Civic Association from 2003 to 2009. He also chaired the Arlington County Community Services Board from 2005 to 2008, co-chaired the Arlington Implementation Task Force to End Homelessness from 2008 to 2010, and served as a Commissioner for the Arlington County Commission on Aging from 2002 to 2007.
