Biography
John Patrick Connick, a Republican, represents District 8 in the Louisiana State Senate, covering the majority of the West Bank in Jefferson and Plaquemines Parishes. Born in March 1961, he is an attorney from Marrero, Louisiana, residing in Harvey. Elected unopposed in 2019 to succeed term-limited Senate President John Alario, he previously served the 84th district in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2008 to 2020. Notable achievements include legislative work enhancing quality of life on the West Bank and sponsoring bills like the reorganization of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-West Bank and Lafitte Area Independent Levee District. He chairs the Transportation, Highways and Public Works Committee and serves on committees including Commerce, Consumer Protection and International Affairs; Environmental Quality; Revenue and Fiscal Affairs; and Natural Resources .
