Biography
Patrick M. Brennan
Patrick M. Brennan was born in 1953 in Burlington, Vermont, and settled in Colchester in 1985. He is married to Mary and has two children, Ryan and Katie, as well as three grandchildren: Reagan, Denny, and McKay.
Brennan is a small business owner who, 30 years ago, launched Brennan's Quick Stop and the Bloomin' Onion Concessions with his father. The concessions business has become a staple of the Champlain Valley Fairgrounds.
Education
Brennan was educated at Rice Memorial High School in South Burlington, Vermont.
Political Experience
Brennan began his public service by serving seven years on the Colchester Planning Commission in the early 1990s. He served in the Vermont House of Representatives from 2003 to 2025, representing the Chittenden-9-2 and later Chittenden-19 Representative Districts.
During his 22 years in the House, Brennan held several significant committee positions:
- Chair of the House Transportation Committee for 9 years
- Member of the House Ways and Means Committee for 4 years
- Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee for 2 years
- Co-Chair of the Legislative Sportsman's Caucus
Brennan was elected to the Vermont Senate in 2024 and currently represents the Grand Isle district as a Republican. He also serves as chair of the Council of State Governments on Transportation and its Executive Committee. Additionally, he holds the positions of Justice of the Peace and member of the Civil Board of Authority, and is a past member of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Lake Champlain.
His stated priorities include making Vermont more affordable through lower taxes, improving public safety, and reforming education funding.
