Pat Marsh

Pat Marsh was born on January 6, 1949, in Fayetteville, Tennessee. He is a Republican member of the Tennessee House of Representatives representing District 62, which encompasses Bedford County and parts of Lincoln County. Marsh won a special election on October 13, 2009, to fill a vacancy in the legislature.

Before his political career, Marsh enjoyed a successful tenure in the trucking industry. He began working for Goggin Truck Line in Shelbyville, Tennessee, and eventually purchased the company, growing it into a substantial operation with over 500 tractors, 1,000 trailers, and more than 1,000 employees. He retired from this career before entering the state legislature.

Education

Marsh earned a Bachelor of Science in Business/Transportation from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville , graduating from what is now known as the Haslam College of Business. His transportation degree directly informed his later career in the trucking industry.

Political Experience

Marsh has served continuously in the Tennessee House of Representatives since 2009. In 2021, he was selected by his fellow state house members to serve as Speaker Pro Tempore of the 112th General Assembly, a position he continues to hold.

Throughout his legislative tenure, Marsh has focused on transportation and infrastructure issues affecting Tennessee. He serves on multiple committees, including the Transportation Committee, Calendar and Rules Committee, and Commerce Committee. His legislative work has emphasized support for highway, road, and bridge improvements across the state.

In recognition of his contributions to the trucking industry, Marsh received the Pinnacle Award from the Tennessee Trucking Association, an honor presented to individuals demonstrating exceptional service and dedication to the sector.
