Biography
Patrick J. Harkins is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 1st District in Erie since his election in 2006. Born and raised in Erie as the youngest of five children to Bernard "Babe" and Rita Harkins, he worked as a United Parcel Service driver for 23 years and previously served as a judge of elections. Harkins founded the "Reservoir Dogs" neighborhood crime watch program and is a member of the Northwest Pennsylvania Apartment Association and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He serves on House committees including Labor Relations, Liquor Control, Education, and Children and Youth . He and his wife Michelle have three children: twin sons Matt and Pat, and daughter Barbara.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Technical Memorial High School in 1982 with a certificate in electronics; studied political science at Mercyhurst College and Penn State Behrend.
- Political Experience: Elected to the Pennsylvania House in 2006 and serving continuously since 2007; represents Erie's 1st Legislative District with offices in Harrisburg and Erie.
