Biography
Pat Grassley is a Republican member of the Iowa House of Representatives, currently representing District 57 in Butler County. Born on May 26, 1983, in Cedar Falls , he is the grandson of U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley and grew up on the family farm, where he continues to work growing corn and soybeans while raising cattle with his father, Robin , and grandfather. He resides in rural New Hartford with his wife, Amanda, and their three children: daughters Indee and Reagan, and son Chancellor. Notable achievements include election as Speaker of the Iowa House in January 2020, chairing the House Appropriations Committee to pass balanced budgets, and prior roles chairing the House Agriculture Committee and House Economic Growth Committee .
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Dike-New Hartford High School in 2002; earned an A.A. in agribusiness from Hawkeye Community College in 2004.
- Political Experience: First elected to the Iowa House in 2006 , now serving his eighth term. He is a member of the Butler County Farm Bureau, Oak Hill Cemetery Foundation Board, House Committee on Administration and Rules, and Chairman of the Joint Committee on Administration and Rules.
