Biography
Senator Patricia A. Fahy is a Democrat representing New York's 46th State Senate District, which includes most of Albany County, all of Montgomery County, and part of Schenectady County. Born on December 31, 1969, in Chicago, IL, and now residing in Albany, NY, she was first elected to the State Senate in 2024, defeating Republican Ted Danz 56% to 44%, and took office in 2025. Prior to the Senate, she served 12 years in the New York State Assembly for the 109th District. Notable achievements include sponsoring New York's first gun industry liability law , the nation's first right-to-repair law , over 300 bills with more than 110 signed into law, initiatives for clean energy like a 30x30 conservation goal, expanded tuition assistance, and addressing housing, PFAS chemicals, and plastic pollution. She currently chairs the Senate Disabilities Committee and serves on committees including Agriculture, Environmental Conservation, and Higher Education.
