Biography
Patricia A. Duffy is a Democratic state representative for the 5th Hampden District in the Massachusetts House, which includes parts of Chicopee and the city of Holyoke in Hampden County. Born in California, she moved to Massachusetts at age eight and has focused her career on addressing inequities through community organizing, union activism, and public service. Elected in 2020 after winning a three-way Democratic primary and facing no Republican opponent, she took office in 2021 and was reelected in 2022 with 97.3% of the vote. Prior to her election, she served as legislative aide to her predecessor, Aaron Vega, handling constituent services and legislation. Notable achievements include her board service on Nueva Esperanza , where she addressed South Holyoke challenges; the Holyoke Redevelopment Authority ; and managing the 2007 campaign for Tim Purington, Holyoke's first openly gay city councilor. In office, she has advocated for a $400 million state investment and continued fighting inequalities.
