Biography
Patrick "Pat" Callahan is a Republican member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, representing District 108, which includes the town of Sherman and parts of New Fairfield, New Milford, and Danbury. He assumed office on January 6, 2021, after winning election in 2020 against Democrat Danette Onofrio, followed by re-elections in 2022 and 2024. A lifelong Connecticut resident, Callahan has lived in New Fairfield for over 25 years with his wife Andrea, a New Fairfield native, and their three children: Tommy, Clare, and Liam. His career spans nearly 27 years in criminal justice as an Adult Probation Officer for 10 years and Chief Probation Officer for 17 years, primarily at Danbury Superior Court, focusing on reducing recidivism.
Education and Political Experience
Callahan's professional background includes extensive community service prior to elected office: he served 13 years on the Candlewood Lake Authority , the New Fairfield Ethics Committee, and the Planning Commission, while volunteering as a youth lacrosse and football coach. Notable achievements include the 2018 Liberty Bell Award from the Danbury Bar Association for exemplary service to courts and community, and the 2024 Carroll J. Hughes Legislator of the Year Award for law enforcement advocacy. In the House, he serves as Ranking Member on the Environment Committee and as a member of the Judiciary and Transportation Committees .
