Biography
Pat Boyd is a Democratic State Representative for Connecticut's 50th Assembly District, which includes the towns of Ashford, Brooklyn, Eastford, Hampton, Mansfield, Pomfret, and Woodstock. A lifelong resident of Eastern Connecticut, he was born in Norwich, grew up in Moosup, and now lives in Pomfret. First elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 2016, he serves on the Joint Committee on Veterans' & Military Affairs, Committee on Children, and as House Chairman of the Public Safety & Security Committee , overseeing areas like state police, homeland security, and legalized gambling. Previously, he was Assistant Majority Leader. Notable recognitions include leadership awards from the Connecticut Farm Bureau, Connecticut State Firefighters Association, Connecticut Police Chiefs Association, Connecticut & Rhode Island Alliance of YMCAs, Police Officers Association of Connecticut, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Plainfield High School; earned a B.A. in history from Eastern Connecticut State University and an M.A. from Sacred Heart University.
- Professional Experience: Educator for over 20 years; currently Dean of Students, history teacher, coach, and dorm parent at Pomfret School.
- Political Experience: Elected in 2016 to represent the 50th District; focuses on rural issues in Connecticut's Quiet Corner as an independent voice for often-overlooked residents.
