Biography
Pamela J. Lauria is a Democratic state senator representing District 32 in Rhode Island, which includes Barrington, Bristol, and East Providence. Born on February 18, 1970, she is a lifelong East Bay resident who grew up in East Providence, later moving to Barrington with her husband David and raising their family there. A primary care nurse practitioner at Coastal Medical for over 25 years, she serves as Secretary of the Health and Human Services Committee, Member of the Special Legislation and Veteran Affairs Committee, and Co-Chair of the Senate Commission to Explore a Medical School at URI. Notable achievements include the 2024 “Demand A Seat” Legislator of the Year from Everytown for Gun Safety, 2024 Legislator of the Year from the RI State Nurses Association, and the 2024 Musiker-Merenda Award from the RI Psychological Association. Her priorities encompass affordable healthcare, gun violence prevention, affordable housing, children's education and emotional support, climate resiliency, seniors, small businesses, and making Rhode Island affordable.
