Biography
Pamela R. Lampitt is a Democrat who represented New Jersey's 6th Legislative District in the General Assembly from 2006 until her departure after nearly 20 years in office, with her last voting session noted recently. A longtime Cherry Hill resident originally born in Natick, Massachusetts, she served as Chairwoman of the Assembly Education Committee, Vice-Chairwoman of the Assembly Higher Education Committee and Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly since 2012. Notable achievements include authoring reforms to the NJ STARS program to prevent funding cuts, sponsoring legislation to combat child hunger and end lunch shaming in schools, streamlining higher education transfer credits for better access to affordable education, and advancing mental health services and suicide prevention in schools. She and her husband, Charles, have two children, Ilene and Andrew, and are grandparents to Gavin and James.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Degree in Culinary Arts and Management from Johnson & Wales University.
- Professional Career: Employed by the University of Pennsylvania for nearly 40 years as Director of Business and Hospitality Services.
- Political Experience: Began in public service on Cherry Hill Township’s Zoning Board, elected to Township Council , then New Jersey Assembly .
