Biography
Nolan West is a Republican member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 32A in the northern Twin Cities metropolitan area, including Blaine, Ham Lake, and parts of Anoka County. Born on September 30, 1990, and raised in Blaine, Minnesota, he has served since 2017, currently in his fifth term as a business owner. Notable positions include co-chair of the Children and Families Finance and Policy Committee, and membership on Commerce Finance and Policy and Ways and Means committees. He is recognized for supporting cannabis legalization, being one of five House Republicans voting for HF100 during the 93rd Legislature, which passed and was signed into law.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Attended Meadow Creek Christian School in Andover ; earned a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in political science from the University of Minnesota.
- Political Experience: Served as a legislative assistant for the Republican caucus in the Minnesota House for nearly two years until resigning in 2016 amid reports of racist Facebook posts. Elected in 2016, he chief-authored bills on district infrastructure like Highway 65 in his first session, though none advanced.
