Biography
Noah Jeremy Arbit is a Democratic member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing the 20th District in Oakland County, which includes West Bloomfield, eastern Commerce Township, Keego Harbor, Orchard Lake, Sylvan Lake, and northwestern Bloomfield Township. Elected in November 2022 at age 27 as the youngest openly gay person in Michigan legislative history, he began his first term in January 2023 and his second term in January 2025. Notable achievements include founding the Michigan Democratic Jewish Caucus in 2019 to combat antisemitism, passing the Michigan Hate Crime Act and Institutional Desecration Act to strengthen protections against hate crimes, securing over $5 million in state funding for local projects, and serving as Co-Chair of the Black-Jewish Unity Caucus, Vice Chair of the Oakland County Legislative Caucus, and member of several other caucuses including Gun Violence Prevention and LGBTQ+.

- Political Experience: Director of Communications for the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office , where he helped establish the Racial Justice Advisory Council and anti-LGBTQ+ hate crime partnerships; Finance Associate at Michigan House Democratic Fund; Program Associate; staffer at National Democratic Institute; organizer for Gretchen Whitmer for Governor and Hillary for Michigan; Policy Associate at National Conference on Soviet Jewry. Serves on committees including Communications and Technology, Natural Resources and Tourism, Criminal Justice, Families, Children and Seniors, Judiciary, and Health Policy Subcommittee on Behavioral Health . Key policy priorities: mental health, environmental protection, consumer rights, combating gun violence and hate crimes, and supporting small businesses.
