Biography
Nnamdi O. Chukwuocha is a Democratic member of the Delaware House of Representatives for District 1 , serving since 2019. Notable achievements include serving as Chair of the Delaware Legislative Black Caucus, Chair of the Veterans Affairs and Health & Human Development committees, recognition as one-half of the Delaware 17th Poets Laureate with the Twin Poets, and over 30 years as a licensed master social worker focused on youth and families.
Born November 16, 1970, in Wilmington, Delaware, Representative Chukwuocha is a lifelong Wilmington resident and U.S. Army veteran. He previously served as a Wilmington City Councilman, acting as President Pro Tempore and chairing the Education, Youth, and Families Committee while vice-chairing Finance and Economic Development. With his brother Al Mills, he forms the acclaimed Twin Poets spoken word duo, appointed Delaware's 17th Poets Laureate in 2015; they have authored books like Our Work, Our Words... Poems from the Pavement and founded Art For Life—Delaware, a nonprofit for youth development. He mentors youth, coaches football, track, and baseball, and serves as a professor at Delaware State University.
