Biography
Nicole Lynn Mitchell is an American former politician, military officer, and meteorologist who served as a Minnesota state senator for District 47 as a member of the *Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party * from 2023 until her resignation on July 25, 2025.
She was elected in 2022, defeating Republican Dwight Dorau with 58.1% of the vote, but resigned following a conviction on felony charges of first-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools after breaking into her stepmother's home in Becker County; she claimed it was to check on her stepmother's welfare amid Alzheimer's concerns.
Mitchell resides in Woodbury, has three children, obtained a foster care license in 2018, and focused on issues like education, environment, working families, and veterans.
