Biography

Representative Nicole La Ha – Illinois

Nicole La Ha is a State Representative for the 82nd District of Illinois, which includes portions of DuPage, Cook, and Will Counties. She is a mother of two young children, a disability advocate, and a community leader who emphasizes public service, fiscal responsibility, and inclusive policies. Representative La Ha has been active in promoting accessibility and quality of life for individuals with disabilities, both at the local and national levels.

She was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 2023 and began serving in the 104th General Assembly. Her advocacy work has included testifying on Capitol Hill with the Cerebral Palsy Foundation in support of federal funding for individuals living with cerebral palsy. She also served as Mrs. America, becoming the second Illinois woman in the organization’s history to hold the title, and used her platform to champion community accessibility and inclusive parks for children with disabilities.

Education

Representative La Ha has an undergraduate degree in political science and public relations. She earned a master’s degree in public administration. Her educational background has supported her work in public service, policy development, and community advocacy.

Political Experience

Representative La Ha began her elected service on the Village of Homer Glen Board of Trustees in 2021, where she consistently opposed tax increases and focused on improving quality of life, particularly for residents with disabilities. She was a founding committee member and the first chairperson of Homer Glen’s Ability Awareness Committee, the village’s first advisory body dedicated to disability advocacy and inclusion.

In 2023, she was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 82nd District. In the General Assembly, she focuses on education, healthcare availability and access, public safety, childcare and early childhood education, disability advocacy, and responsible fiscal management. She serves on multiple House committees, including Adoption and Child Welfare, Childcare Access and Early Childhood Education, Elementary and Secondary Education , Health Care Availability and Access, Museums, Arts, and Culture, and Police and Fire.
