Biography
Nick Gauthier
Nick Gauthier is a Democratic member of the Connecticut House of Representatives representing the 38th district, which encompasses the town of Waterford and part of Montville. He was elected to his first term in 2024. A native of Waterford born in New London, Gauthier has deep roots in his community and is committed to serving working people and working families.
In his current role, Gauthier serves on three House committees: Labor & Public Employees, Energy & Technology, and Government Administration & Elections. His legislative priorities focus on ensuring Connecticut is a fair and equitable place to live, retire, and raise families by investing in public goods and services, regulating corporate control, and protecting the environment through sustainable communities and infrastructure.
Outside of his legislative work, Gauthier is employed by the town of Waterford's Senior Services Department and is an active member of the Waterford Historical Society and Democratic Town Committee. He is affiliated with the Working Families Party and enjoys outdoor activities including Ultimate Frisbee and hiking.
Education
Gauthier is a graduate of Waterford High School and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of New Haven.
Political Experience
Prior to his election to the state House, Gauthier served as a three-term member of the Waterford Representative Town Meeting. His career in public service and community engagement includes extensive work as a labor organizer, grassroots political organizer, and community organizer. These roles reflect his long-standing commitment to advocacy and civic participation at the local level.
