Biography
Nellie Darlene Jimmie is a Democrat representing Alaska House District 38, which covers rural communities in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, including Toksook Bay, her longtime home. A community leader and mother of two , she has resided in Alaska for 43 years, living in Bethel , Toksook Bay , and Anchorage/Palmer . Jimmie won election in 2024 via ranked-choice voting, narrowly defeating incumbent Conrad McCormick with 51.04% of the vote after securing 44% in the primary. Her priorities include rural infrastructure like running water and sewer, subsistence rights, and statewide education funding. Previously, she operated Bayview General Merchandise Inc., a family-owned store, and served as Toksook Bay's representative on the Alaska Village Electric Cooperative board.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Nelson Island High School , completed training at Alaska Job Corps Center , and attended some college at University of Phoenix .
