Biography
Nathan Nelson is a Republican representative for District 11B in the Minnesota House of Representatives, serving east-central Minnesota including parts of Chisago, Kanabec, and Pine Counties, such as Hinckley, Mora, and Rush City. Born January 17, 1979, in Hinckley, Minnesota, he is a third-generation farmer who grew up on a dairy farm and now operates a farm with Angus beef cattle alongside his wife Suzanna and their five children. Notable positions include past service on the Clover Township Board of Supervisors for nine years and current role as president of the Pine County Farm Bureau; he has advocated for a wolf hunt to protect rural farmers and ranchers, and critiqued drought relief and rural broadband funding as insufficient.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Hinckley-Finlayson High School in 1997.
- Political Experience: Elected in a special election on March 19, 2019, to replace Jason Rarick, who resigned for a Senate run; won full terms in 2020 and 2022, currently in his fourth term representing District 11B.
