Biography
Nathan Michael Carlow is a Republican state representative for Maine House District 137, which includes parts of Buxton and Hollis. He has served since 2020, making him the youngest legislator ever elected in Maine history during his first term . Carlow is a lifelong Mainer, educator, and Director of Communications, and he serves on the MSAD 6 Board of Directors . Notable priorities include education policy to help school districts save money and lower property taxes, as well as broadband development in rural Maine. He serves on the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee and the Bills in the Second Reading Committee.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: University of Southern Maine .
- Political Experience: Elected in 2020 after defeating Republican Stavros Mendros in the primary and Democrat David Durrell in the general , succeeding termed-out Rep. Donald Marean. Re-elected in subsequent terms, including the 2024 cycle against Democrat Elizabeth Gleason; sought re-election in 2026 against Democrat Charles Tilburg. Legislative service spans the 130th, 131st, and 132nd Legislatures.
