Biography
Nathan Ballentine is a Republican member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 71 since 2005. Born on December 10, 1970, he has served continuously in this role, winning re-elections including decisive victories in 2018 and 2022 . Notable achievements include sponsoring "Ryan's Law" for autism insurance coverage, which positioned South Carolina as a leader ; advancing campaign finance disclosure and "On The Record Voting" laws; and co-chairing the SC Energy Caucus. He currently chairs the Ways and Means Higher Education Budget Subcommittee and serves on the Ways and Means Committee. Awards include South Carolina School Improvement Council Legislator of the Year and the Green Tie Award from Conservation Voters of South Carolina.
