Biography
Nate Shannon is a former Democratic member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing the 25th District and the 58th District . Born on December 10, 1974, in Pocahontas, Iowa, he resides in Sterling Heights, Michigan, with his wife Lori and their three children: Madilyn, Brodie, and Elisabeth. A Lutheran, Shannon is a teacher at L'Anse Creuse Public Schools since 2010 and has been active in community organizations including the Michigan Municipal League, Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Sierra Club. Notable positions include Chair of the House Committee on Transportation, Mobility, and Infrastructure, with service on committees such as Education, Local Government & Municipal Finance, Natural Resources, Environment, Tourism and Outdoor Recreation, and Transportation. He sponsored legislation like modifications to the Michigan Reconnect Grant Act for higher education financial aid.
