Biography
Natalie Carroll Ziegler is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 9A , serving since January 11, 2023. She is a farmer, small business owner, and advocate for rural communities, sustainability, agriculture, and education.
Born on September 5, 1955, in New York, Natalie Ziegler owns Carroll Mill Farm, a feed grain operation in Ellicott City, Maryland, since 1990, and co-owned Commonwealth Imports, LLC/Natalie Ziegler Designs from 2001 to 2022. A fifth-generation descendant of Charles Carroll of Carrollton , she previously worked as a journalist, senior researcher/segment producer at CNN , and producer at Forum Network . Elected in a tight November 2022 race, she serves on the Environment and Transportation Committee , is co-chair of the Rural Caucus , vice-chair of the Howard County Delegation, and a member of the Women Legislators of Maryland. Notable achievements include introducing a 2026 bill for the Rural Maryland Capacity Building Fund and Rural Readiness Program; board service on Howard Community College , Maryland Environmental Trust , Homewood House Museum, and Howard County Economic Development Authority/Agriculture Committee; and co-sponsoring bills like HB0221 , HB1020 , and HB0837 . She is married with two children and active in groups like the League of Women Voters, NAACP, and farm bureaus.
