Biography
Nasif Majeed is a Democratic representative for North Carolina House District 99 in Mecklenburg County, serving since 2019. Born on September 27, 1945, he is a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran who flew over 120 combat missions as a B-52 pilot during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1973, and later became the first African American to own and operate a Burger King franchise in Charlotte. A businessman by occupation, Majeed previously served eight years on the Charlotte City Council, focusing on infrastructure, economic opportunities, affordable housing, public transportation, and small business development. In the legislature, he advocates for equitable education funding, criminal justice reform, healthcare access, HBCUs, veterans' rights, and policies supporting working families.
