Biography
Nancy Ann Foster Muñoz is an American Republican Party politician who served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2009 to 2026, representing the 21st Legislative District . A resident of Summit, she is a former nurse with over 35 years of experience in surgical intensive care at prestigious hospitals including Yale-New Haven Hospital, Massachusetts General in Boston, and Memorial-Sloan Kettering in New York City. She held key leadership roles such as minority whip , co-chair of the Republican Conference , conference leader , deputy minority leader , and Republican budget officer . Muñoz lost re-election in 2025. She is a mother of five and was active in community service, including as president of the Summit PTA and on the board of a preschool serving low-income children.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing from Skidmore College ; master's degree from Hunter College as a clinical nurse specialist.
- Political Experience: Elected to the General Assembly in 2009 after winning the Republican primary; re-elected to multiple two-year terms until 2025. Known as an expert on health care policy due to her nursing background.
