Biography
Morgan Thomas Lewis Irwin is an American law enforcement officer and politician from Washington who served as a Republican member of the Washington House of Representatives for the 31st Legislative District from 2017 to 2021. Born and raised in Enumclaw on his family's cattle ranch, Irwin worked as a police officer with the Seattle Police Department, patrolling South Seattle neighborhoods, and previously held positions in the finance industry as a loan writer for farmers and agribusiness firms. Notable achievements include serving as ranking Republican on the House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee, as well as on the Capital Budget and Transportation committees; he was elected Assistant Floor Leader by House Republicans for the 2019 and 2020 sessions, managing debate, negotiations, and legislative strategy.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business/Economics from Washington State University in 2007.
- Political Experience: Appointed in 2017 to fill a vacancy in the 31st District after Rep.-elect Phil Fortunato's election to the Senate; won a special election that year and was reelected in 2018, serving until 2021.
