Biography of Representative Monty Fritts

Monty Fritts is a Republican member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing District 32 since his election in November 2022. He defeated Jan Hahn in the general election that year.

Fritts was born on December 10, 1963. He is a carpenter by trade who has a passion for working on antique automobiles and motorcycles. He is married with children and grandchildren and identifies as Christian/Baptist.

Politically, Fritts advocates for shrinking state government, cutting spending, and ending corporate welfare. He served as Deputy Republican Whip from 2023 to 2024. He is also a life member of the National Rifle Association and maintains memberships with the Tennessee Firearms Association and the National Association of Gun Rights.

Education

Fritts attended Roane County High School, graduating in 1982. He completed various leadership development courses through the U.S. Army. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Chemistry from Liberty University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Liberty University. Additionally, he earned a Certificate of Operational Excellence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
