Biography

Monica Michelle Jurado Stonier is a Democratic member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing the 49th Legislative District, Position 2. An educator and politician, she serves as House Majority Floor Leader and advocates for public education, health care access, labor rights, and financial literacy. Notable achievements include passing pro-labor bills, securing bipartisan support for Breakfast After the Bell, de-linking state tests from high school graduation, and expanding school-based health care. She is the first person of color to serve in the 17th and 49th districts in Clark County.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from Western Washington University ; Master's degree from Washington State University Vancouver. Currently works as an instructional coach in Evergreen Public Schools.
