Monica Church

Monica Carol Church is a Democratic member of the Idaho House of Representatives representing District 19, Seat A, based in Boise. Born and raised in Boise, Idaho, she comes from a prominent political family as the granddaughter of former Idaho Governor and U.S. Senator Frank Church and former Idaho Governor and U.S. Secretary of Interior Cecil Andrus.

Church is married to Chad and has one daughter, Casey. Before her election to the legislature in 2024, she spent nearly two decades as a public school educator, teaching in 88 schools across 66 counties throughout Idaho.

Education

Church holds multiple degrees from prestigious institutions:

• Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Cultural Anthropology from Whitman College
• Master of Education in education leadership and administration from Boise State University
• Bachelor of Arts in social studies secondary education from Boise State University
• Bachelor of Arts in history from Boise State University

She graduated from Timberline High School in 2000.

Political Experience

Church won the Democratic nomination without opposition in 2024 and defeated Republican nominee Jim Feederle in the general election, making this her first term in the Idaho House of Representatives.
