Biography

Mollie S. Burke is a Democratic representative for Windham-8 in the Vermont House of Representatives, based in Brattleboro, Windham County. She has served in the House since 2009 and as a Brattleboro Town Meeting member since 1990, after moving to the Brattleboro area in 1970. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and on the Niagara River in Canada as the eldest of eleven children, she is a longtime advocate for transportation safety, public transit, arts funding, and workers' rights.

Notable achievements include long-term membership on the House Transportation Committee, where she serves as the sole House appointee to the state Public Transit Advisory Committee; successful legislation for pedestrian, bicyclist, and disability protections on roads; tightened DUI laws; support for full funding of the Vermont Arts Council via the Legislative Arts Caucus; and backing a minimum wage increase to $10 per hour in 2017 through the Working Vermonters Caucus.
