Mitchell Horner
Edward Mitchell Horner is a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 3 in Northwest Georgia. He was born on May 4, 1994, and is from Ringgold, Georgia. Horner is a businessman and father of three children, with two attending the public education system.
Education and Background
Horner was home-schooled during his formative years. Before entering politics, he worked as a businessperson in his community.
Political Experience
Horner first entered electoral politics in 2022, when he defeated Darrell Weldon Sr. in the Republican primary election for the Georgia House District 3 seat. No Democratic candidate ran against him in the general election, and he assumed office in 2023, succeeding Dewayne Hill.
During his tenure, Horner has focused on education and tax policy. He championed House Bill 581, which implemented a 1% sales tax aimed at offsetting property taxes. He has also been an advocate for school choice policies, noting that Georgia achieved school choice legislation in 2024. His stated priorities include balancing parental choice rights with public education funding and support for the constituents of Catoosa County and the broader District 3 region.
