Biography
Mitchell Cornett is a Republican delegate representing Virginia's 46th District, which includes the counties of Grayson, Pulaski , Smyth, and Wythe. Born in 1994 in Marion, VA, he is a 31-year-old lifelong resident of Grayson County, working as a realtor, fifth-generation cattle farmer, and volunteer paramedic with the Independence Volunteer Rescue Squad. He previously served as a member of the Grayson County Board of Supervisors, vice chairman of the Grayson County Republican Party, and volunteer firefighter/EMT for about 15 years. A self-described Trump supporter and strong Second Amendment advocate, Cornett emphasizes economic development for economically distressed Southwest Virginia, bipartisan wins in Richmond, and representing district needs without bowing to the establishment. He was elected in November 2025 with nearly 78% of the vote, succeeding one-term Republican Jed Arnold, and took office on January 14, 2026. He is married to Kaitlin Cornett.
