Biography
Missy Warren McGee is a Republican representing District 102 in the Mississippi House of Representatives since 2017. Born on March 31, 1966, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, she won a special election to replace Toby Barker, becoming the second woman to hold the seat. She is married to Sean McGee with two children, Patrick and Jackson, and is Methodist.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Hattiesburg High School; earned a BS and MS in Speech Communication from the University of Southern Mississippi; served as an instructor in speech communication at USM.
- Early Career: Spent three years in Washington, D.C., as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Trent Lott.
- Political Experience: Elected in 2017 special election; unopposed in 2019 Republican primary; reelected in subsequent cycles including 2023. Serves as Vice Chair of the Public Health and Human Services Committee and Vice Chairman of the House Tourism Committee; member of Apportionment and Elections, Medicaid, Transportation, Universities and Colleges, and formerly Public Utilities committees.
