Biography
Mike Weissman is a Democratic State Senator representing District 28 in Colorado, covering parts of Adams and Arapahoe Counties, including Aurora. He previously served four terms as a State Representative for Aurora, passing over 100 bills and resolutions during his eight years in the Colorado state capitol. Notable achievements include leading progressive tax reforms to close special interest loopholes, expand the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, fund K-12 education and affordable housing, and promote green technologies and employee-owned businesses. He has advanced consumer and renter protections, criminal justice reforms , campaign finance transparency, and modernization of open records laws. Currently, he chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, serves on the Health & Human Services Committee, and is Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Legislative Audit.
