Michael Vondran is an American politician and businessman born in 1961 in Dubuque, Iowa. He is a member of the Republican Party and currently serves as a State Representative in the Iowa House of Representatives. Vondran is married to Kathleen and has five children. He is a small business owner who has operated his business in Iowa for over three decades.

Political Experience

Vondran has represented Iowa House District 94 since January 9, 2023. This district encompasses parts of central Scott County, including most of Eldridge and much of central Davenport, which is his hometown.

Vondran first ran for the Iowa House in 2020, when he challenged Democratic incumbent Phyllis Thede for the 93rd district but lost by over 1,900 votes. After redistricting in 2021, he announced his candidacy for the newly drawn 94th district. He won the Republican primary unopposed on June 7, 2022, and defeated Thede again in the general election on November 8, 2022, by over 1,700 votes, ending her 14-year tenure in the chamber.
