Biography
Mike Stuart is a Republican politician, attorney, and former West Virginia state senator who represented District 7 from 2022 until his resignation in October 2025. Born in Philippi, West Virginia, he previously served as United States Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia from 2018 to 2021. Notable achievements include chairing the West Virginia Republican Party , leading Trump's 2016 presidential campaign in the state, and sponsoring legislation such as a death penalty bill for killing law enforcement or first responders, along with bills restricting methadone clinics and syringe exchanges. In February 2025, President Donald Trump nominated him as General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services ; he was confirmed and currently holds that position.
